No need to worry about the Y2K bug with CompuChart

All Innovative Software Solutions' products are year 2000 enabled. CompuChart was originally designed with the millennium change in mind. Years ago, programmers designed systems to store only the last two digits of the year in most dates. This was because saving space was critical and the century could be assumed to be 19. Now that we approach the end of the 20th century, it is critical to store the entire four digit year. All dates in the CompuChart software have always held a four digit year. This way CompuChart can distinguish between the year 2000 and 1900.

CompuChart provides a century value that is used when the century is unknown. This value will need to be changed as of 12/31/1999 at 24:00:00. This value can be accessed via the Universal Variable Maintenance menu option found on the administrative menu.

Any custom interfaces and interfaces to third party vendors are only compliant to the extent of the third party database. Since some of the dates that are stored in the CompuChart database are retrieved from a third party vendor's database (such as birth date, admit date, discharge date, etc.), compliance of the interface is dependent on compliance of the third party database. ISS supplies new interfaces to the Y2K compliant software provided by most hospital information system vendors. If you are switching from a non-Y2K compliant version of a hospital information system to a compliant version, please contact ISS to receive the new interface programs.
